Since you said that I'm just going to assume that you've only played FF games that were officialy released in America, or FFIII... Plus I couldn't fully enjoy it cuz I can only get on the comp in 1 hour intervals cuz my family shares a comp...

Red! Your eyes are red! You're a very distant
person, and you tend to hunger for power. In a
Manga, you'd be the sexy evil villan. Nothing
wrong with that, although you may want to think
about toning up the killing.

Which Guilty Gear X character are you?
That makes YOU a loser. Unless you're me. LOSER!

First of all, I have played all FF games released to date (except for FFX-2) and second, how can you properly judge a game that you even admitted to not being able to fully enjoy? Well, that's my thoughts.
As a side note I would like you all to know that this topic was made to help people and not to play host to your rants on FFXI. I suggest that you take that and your negative aditudes somewhere else.

You asked my opinion. I gave it. If my opinion inspires someone not to by it then I DID help. I was also talking about the ones never released in America, not just the American 1-11.

Um...Every FF except III has been officially released in America. And thats because III stinks HARD. (and yes I'm using the real numbers not the SNES / SQUARESOFT *beep* up of the 90's).
FFI, II, IV, V, VI, VII, VIII, IX, X, X-2, XI all available on the PS or PS2. FFI & II are available on the GBA as well.
Anyway about the game and OP, I loved it for a few months - and I really should preface that with the fact that I'm what some may call a veteran MMORPGer. In about 3 months time I had made it to level 50, and the game really slowed to a crawl, I got it maybe 2 months after it launched on PC. I'd still be playing today if it wasn't so boring trying to get xp groups together when I had quit about 6 months after playing it. If you don't play that quickly through it or if the end gmae has changed since well over a year ago, you will probably enjoy it much longer than that if you're liking it now.
I really dig the group aspects of the game, the RENKEI system is probably the best 'learn to work with me' system I had seen in a game at that time. EQ2 tried to emulate that and it worked fairly well, better for hte noobs as the timing wasn't so precise. Pulling off a full party Renkei...there's no better feeling. The game really brings your group together to be one killing machine like EQ did for me back in the day. The world is quite large, and the amount of quests is deafaning at first. I loved the little thigns you could do on the side too, fishing was it's own game in and of itself, as was gardnening. There were others but I didn't go into those...unlocking hte classes became an addiction for a while - had everything on my Elvaan - do NOT try to play any sort of magic class as an Elvaan except White Mage. Summoner and Black Mage is just useless. Getting them to level 15 is good for the bonus' though, I got my white mage up to 46 because of the severe lack of healers.
I've thought about returning to the game, I have it on my PS2 (came with the HDD so I had no choice) and want to play it there sitting on my couch. But I am too into WoW atm

FFXI is alright to me. I like it for the art and story, though the sucky part is tryign to get through the story. Also the fact that like most MMOs, FFXI is being milked for all it's worth by gil sellers and other illegal markets.
THe game also can get rather competative, since item prices can be jacked up by people playign the game market, and fidning the item form a monster is a challenge all in its own, since you got bots camping the monster almost 24/7. But if you can get around all the crap, it's a fun game.

lvl 21 pld
lvl 30 war
lvl 15 mnk
lvl 10 smn
lvl 10 whm
ect
and well...i was a bit dissapointed, to start off....the team building system is rubbish, i would sometimes wait around for 1hr or longer to get into a party that breaks up straigh away.
Its easy to die...and loosing exp sucks, theres just so many disapointing aspects of this game.
back to runescape..hah

57 Samurai
51 Paladin
31 Warrior
18 Dragoon
on Bahamut Server.
I really enjoy the game, although it is slow at first, when you get farther in it starts to pick up speed. The story of the game is awesom, and it is a great deal differant that every other MMORPG. (Runs off a different base system, not like the abilities in GuildWars/WoW, but stuff like TP.)

In the end i found it to be an excercise in tedium, unlike AO or WoW that simply progress faster.
