Ok here is the deal under the patriot act the guy who used the laser pointer should get 25 years in prison and a fine. The guy was looking at stars with the laser pointer it accidentaly blinded the pilot and nobody was killed the plane didn't crash. The guy I think should get a fine but to go to jail for an accident. There are so many laser pointers out there if a little kid did it would they give the kid 25 years how stupid is this sh*t.

Is the pilot's blindness permanent or is it too early too tell?
It wasn't intentional, so it's negligence--fine and a light sentence, maybe 6 months or time served if he's already spent several months in jail. But I agree 25 years is way to stiff.

Geez...25 years and a fine, for accidentally and temporarily blinding someone? Where I live, that's almost as bad as if he killed someone...
It was an accident, but it still could have killed many people, so I'd say a relatively short prison term, maybe a year, and a fine.

Where I live people often do less time for killing someone.
Overcrowded prisons. Overburdened system.
No, a year's too long. Especially since no intentional or permanent harm was done. The guy's suffered enough. I change my mind, now that I know the pilot is fine, the guy with the laser pointer should be fined about a grand, and serve no time.
But how exactly do you look at stars with a laser pointer anyway?

Yea this is stupid, and I thought it was another type of lazer(a bigger one like the one for lazer light shows) I mean how the hell do you blind piolet whos behind a small window on a plane at least a few hundred feet in the air? He doesn't deseve to be punished... if they are so afraid of it they should tint the windows...
