Who would win a fight between a Medieval knight and a fuedal samurai? First this essay is a good piece of information for this topic its long butthis essay tells alot.
Next is something I'd like to get out of the way quick and that is weight, medieval swords were not 100 pounds just look at this. Also samurais aren't really lightning fast and aren't reallly faster than knights( even in armor the speed difference is low) also katanas are now so sharp they can cut through swords, trees, gun barrels ect. while they are probably the sharpest swords ever they are not that sharp also due to there sharpness they are also thin at the edge and this means they chip easily. Now then let me give the situation, this is a duel between the two... the samurai said something and the knight thought he cursed him out so the knight challanged him to a sword duel... they are fighting for honor(which means the samurai will kill or be killed since samurais believe death is better than life without honor) and this is why they fight(just to get the smart a....lecks, yea smart alecks(darn you censorship!) who will go "why would they fight anyway" out of the way). And now my opinion with armor there is no way the samurai would win knights armor is designed to take cuts and slashes and the katanas point isn't really going to do good trying to stab through plate armor, knights are also good with a sword anyway so with this advantage it would be too easy. Without I'd say its more even, almost 50/50 but I'd pick knight because their sword styles look pretty agressinve(saw it on the history channel to me it looked better than the jappanise one they showed on another documentary) and their swords have a longer reach.

How about you give us more suggestions, well, no sh!t samurais aren't lightning fast, and knights are men in bulky armor. Japan's samurais proved to be pretty weak, because when the Mongols invaded Japan (in the 12th century), they were barely able to fight off the relatively small force sent off by the Mongols, even with the help of the winds that destroyed much of what was left of the invading fleet, the samurais had become very weakened, so imagine the whole Mongol fleet sent off, Japan would be totally conquered. There were many different kinds of knights too, you aren't being specific enough.

I had to say that, I've seen this debate done a few times, people seem to think that anime is real or something because alot of people always say that. As to the mongol thing I remember watching something on the history channel that said back then samurai fought their battles by mounted archery duels so thats why they couldn't win. Yea thats true they were lucky that typhoon hit or else japan would have been conquered.

Shades, do us a favor, just shut up.
The samurais compared with the army of the Mongols is a huge difference. Not only does the Mongols have a huge land territories, they also have better weapons, experience, and advisers than the Japanese. From the use of terror and effective use of artillery learned from the Chinese, Turks, etc. They gained knowledge and advice from the Chinese, and other peoples from administration to mounting an effective attack on their enemies. From all that, I have the say samurais are nothing but exaggerated from TV cartoons.
