Naru's going to copy everything
just because of this jerk.
It's doubly bad when
they hire a black man to
stand up for the system.
They give this guy $150 bucks
to make an impassioned plee
for people earning 75 grand or more a year.
Seriously, You gotta' make a buck,
but damn......

Ha, I love that.
Plus, there is another bonus to "sharing" that they chose to ignore. Extending the reach of the media. Do to the vast amount of media there is out there, many things are lost in the shuffle. We can't buy everything out there, so we download the odd and end stuff that we would never just buy, and check it out. Take the movie called "The Man From Earth". I love this movie. I even rented it, I almost never buy, and it was the first rent in years. I found it on rlslog and thought I would give it a try. Loved it. as did alot of people. Just read this page about what the producer said about rlslog.
The real problem is that most well know companies are making crap. They know it is crap. The only way they can make money on it is to over hype it. Americans are ignorant, and fall for the hype every time. "Sure the last movie sucked, but this on is going to be sooo much better!" Ect. With people uploading mvoies, we get to take them for a "test drive". It is not stopping us from buy things, it isn't going to make us save that money. We just spend it on the things that pass the test drive.
Also there is the thought that video games are an art form. If it trully is an art form, then the artist should want it to have a big a reach as they can. The problem is that their audience can't always afford to buy their products. Take me for instance. I am extremely poor. I can't buy many releases. So I have to ration my money, and that means I would miss out on many great programs, games, movies, and music. Art is supposed to be enjoyed by all, not the privileged few.
All that being said, I am not against people making their money. With out money, people can make the things we want. However, I think there needs to be a cap on the amount of money that can be made on a product. Once that cap is met, said product needs to become PD. So if something cost, say, 1000$ worth of time and materials, then I would say put the cap at like 3000$, or something like that.
That works in the long run, but what about making money as soon as it is released? I say free downloads of movies, music, apps, ect. How do they get money with that? Ads. Start a new scene that releases new DVDrips, TVrips, ect, with commercials music with ads as their album image, ect. All you would have to do is save them in copyprotected WM (I don't really like wmv/a's, but I think they would be best for this said idea). Even though their is a big any copyprotect issue going on now, that doesn't affect this. If someone wants to put music of videos on their ipod, buy it. If you want it for free, make do with watching/listening to it on your computer with commercials.
I have more idea's, but I am not very articulate, and this took me over a half hour to write, so I am done for now.

ADVERTISING in brainwashing
in the first place.
If it didn't work, they wouldn't
pay millions of dollars for it.
Naru heard Oprah say one time
she built her schools in Africa
because children in America were
more concerned about shoes than education.
Well, that may be true.
However they were programmed to want these
things, because of the advertising thrown
in their faces every damn day from
the time they exited the womb.
Guess where Oprah gets all her damn money?.......
Wait for it.....
ADVERTISING!
Guess she don't wanna' bite
the hand that feeds her fat ass.
Advertisements need to go away...forever.
Everything needs to be public domain after 5 years, period.

Advertising is only brainwashing if you are an ignorant sap. Granted, 90% of americans are ignorant saps, but that is their own damn fault. I am, and have always been a TV kid. Growing up I saw more TV in a week then my dad in a month. So I have seen way more then my fair share of advertising. However, I didn't let it turn me in to an uber consumerist freak. I don't give a damn if I have the latest fashion, far from it in fact. And I HATE brand names. Cheap crap is just as good in most cases.
So I say advertising is good. Gives the ignorant masses direction. Where would Spears be if she didn't want to get the latest shoe, or where would Oprah be if she didn't want to get the latest and greatest surgery?

It is the only way TV shows make money. So, you kinda have to use it. There is no other way to keep TV shows on the air.
Well, inless you are into the crap on PBS. Which I am sooooo not into.
Except Universe. That show is cool.

Baron,
You haven't been around
long enough to know this but,
the original sales pitch for
cable TV was no advertisements.
WHAT? you say?
It's true.
The fact that you payed the
cable provider directly was
the means to eliminate advertising.
They quickly reneged on that premise.
Why not force you to watch adds and make
you pay for the privilege?
More money for them
and, a big fuck you
to the consumer too.
Ask your Dad,
he will probably remember
them old days.

Actually, I do remember that. Or at least hearing about that. But, if we wanted TV shows that had any special effects at all, let alone any thing like Stargate, Startrek, or any other show with high special effect budgets, then we would have to pay through our *** to have cable. As of right now you can get cable, with all the channels I watch, for just under $30 a month. I don't care if everyone in the country paid that $30 a month, that still is not enough money for all the different shows everybody watchs. So, it is either put up with ads, or less channels/shows.
Not that it really affects me too much, tonight was the first time in months I have watch a TV show as it airs, like I was going to wait to watch Chuck. I always RLSLOG my vids. So I don't watch ads anyways. But I do respect the good they do.

You get alot of the extra's? Your base price for cable is $29.95 at comcast. Don't get much channel, but you got TNT, TBS, USA, SYFY, Toon, ect.
Granted, most people don't get that. They spend money to get digital, more channels, ondemand, ect.

The same with me.
But they updated the shows all the time on comcast, back when I used comcast at my moms. The day after NBC/CBS shows aired, it was ondemand, every week there were new movies for free, ect.
