So, I happened apon a site awhile ago. I thought it was cool then, but lately I have been wanting to do something like that. Mainly because my Eee can't play HD vids, and I found a mini PCI-e card that can decode HD vids. Now there isn't a free PCI-e port, but I can remove the wifi card, and get a USB wifi dongle. I just don't want it to be "plugged in", cause plugged in can fall off and get lost. So I want to put a wifi card, FM transmiter, card reader, and mouse dongle inside, maybe even GPS.
So, my Q for you guys is can that card really let me play HD MKV's/WMV's? And can a USB wifi card work when internal? I don't mind if it a bit bad of a connection. Whenever I use wifi I am less then 10 feet from the router. I don't see why it would matter, since it is inside plastic anyways, and I am just exchanging one for another, but I don't know. I really am not a hardware man, I am all software.. Naru, Sex, you guys are hardware people, what do you think?

My Eee has 2 pci-e slots. One with Wifi, one with my 16gb SSD. I want to remove the wifi card, and put in a HD decoder. Then wire a USB wifi card internally. Just want to use the decoder to watch HD movies on the Eee, and the wifi for, well, wifi. I know better then to think I could transmit HD vids, I have trouble with 620x480.

Thanks for proving you just skimmed my post. 
That is about the only thing I have to use as a basis for my maybe mods. I never even heard about using USB as an internal connection till that site.

You could probably connect the eee's internal antenna to a usb wifi adapter to get equivalent signal. Not sure about the hd video card, didn't even know they made them.

Yeah, I have been looking into that. Can't find any small enough USB cards with the right connection's to hook up to it. I think I am starting to think I shouldn't get the hd card. But I will get a new wifi card, with N. I really don't like Atheros's. It isn't supported in linux, inless you wrap it, and that just isn't right.
Also, those HD cards are nice. As it is I can play 420p x.264 with out much problem, and some 720p x.264 with a few setting tweaks, long as the action isn't fast. But nothing more. Looks great, to be sure, and my Eee screen can't display any better, but I like to have/use the best. Plus, I use my Eee for lots of vids, and this is supposed to help the power last longer.
