Or, just buy a MoBo you like, and get any old case that it fits. Either way, you got to make a choice for one first, before the other.

lol im reading these cases and have no clue what they're talking about.
Mostly they describe how many
spaces there are to fill, and with what.
Really just look for one you like, and can afford.
You can get a huge freaking tower.
A medium sized desktop tower.
A home theater case (for putting in a tv stand like your cable box or dvd.)
Or whatnot.
Just pick one out and post the link to it.
Baron and Naru can help you piece a pretend PC together here.

It's a bit overkill for your price range.
Naru thinks this one will do nicely.
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx...6811129021#spec
Probably need to replace that top fan,
but that will add like $15 to the $99.
Really any of these are fine.
Naru went with the middle of the road price.
Let's see what the other guys think,
because you want to sink most of your
money into the CPU and motherboard. (All of these cases take an ATX motherboard)

To pick a mobo first you must pick a few things.
1. Are you an Intel man, or a AMD man. AMD's are a worse, but way cheaper.
2. nVidia or ATi? I would go with ATi, cause nVidia has a problem with Dreamcast games. Can't even play PSO cause all nVidia can show are wireframes. Seems there are a few games like that. I am sure this "problem" affects other games too, but if you don't plan to dreamcast emu, I doubt it would affect you.

2. I've got to reccomend NVIDIA over ATI. Never had an issue with nvidia EVER. ATI has given me nothing but problems, there drivers are, or at least were, shit and I've even had a brand new card from them blow up on me 5 mins after installing it.

Support Core i7 Check (a ness for an high end intel gamer pc)
Multi PCI-E 8x+ Check (multi vid cards SLI)
PCI Check (good for older cards/sound cards, ect)
DDR3 Check (Max 12gb with triple channel support, meaning games will run fast and free, no need to hotswap with the hard drive, most of them can be loaded into ram, if maxed out. But you can start low, and add more as money arrives)
USB 2.0 Check (8)
Firewire Check (2, good for, um, ah, stuff
Sata Check (6 at 3Gb/s)
Onboard vid X (need a vid card to run, no prob since this is a gaming PC, and will have at least 1)
Onboard audio Check (8 channel, though I would rec a nice pci one, if money allows)
Other notes.
Supposed easy overclocking. Though, I think you should stay away from that, seeing as you are not really a "comp" person.
"Onboard Clear CMOS, Power and reset buttons with built in power and hdd activity led indicators." Cool.
A nice onboard LED that shows the CPU's temp. Always helpfull with overclocking, which I would not advise doing.
Sata ports are easy to use, even if all PCI slots are used. Something too many boards overlook.
I say, it looks good, but let us get a sec thought on this.
Naru?
O, and I am an nVidia man too Sex. Love my GeForce. Only had trouble with Dreamcast emu's. I thought I was just unlucky, but it seems most of nVidia's are the same.
And now that you men it, My sis's comp did have a horrid time getting ATI to work on her vista rig.

Haven't had any dreamcast emulation problems
as Naru's shit is too slow for it.
Naru needs links for the CPU's
recommendations.
At $1200 he's knocking himself out of 64bit....no?
Is it still more detrimental software wise, or is it beneficial now to go 64bit processor?
Naru just doesn't have the money
to continually test everything out.
Also,
Baron use full terminology.
Motherboard, not mobo.
That kinda' stuff is confusing if you don't know what it is.

But, 64bit is alot more prevalent now. Alot of new CPU's are 64bit.

What CPU are you referring to?
Give a link please.
Naru want's to see it.
Never mind,
Naru found it.
OUCH, these core i7's are real expensive......
He's not going to be able to finish this thing off
with his money. You'd be stupid to get less than 3.06GHz in this chip.
