PS3.
No, really, you can get one if you add just a few more dollars.
Here
If not, get the WII. The Xbox is just too unreliable to get. You don't want a system that will die on you now do you. The Xbox has a 30% death rate.

I'm terribly biased, but here's my little bit.
The PSIII is too expensive to begin with, so that leaves the Xbox 360 and the Wii.
I'm not sure about the 30% death rate, but I don't like that system to begin with. I would recommend the Wii, with the ability to download previous games, and reverse compatibility with the Gamecube it can serve to be quite amusing. Also you were the one who wanted to play as Megaman in Brawl. You won't be able to do that without a Wii. Even if he isn't announced then you can go ahead and get the other Megaman releases that will likely come out on Wii. The 360 is not going to get any Megaman games.
That's my thoughts.

From experiences with all three consoles, I would recommend the Wii. Firstly, its more "Fun" and its gaming experience is revolutionary. Was at a party and everyone enjoyed the Wii so its a good social thing too.
The 360 and PS3 has some awesome graphics, considering we're playing on a plasma, but it gets quite boring after a while, HALO 3 is probably the only thing 360 got going in my opinion. Oh and the 360 crashed on my mate during the first month, but it has been working fine since.
I was playing PS3 at the sony central for a good 2 hours before I was asked to leave, great... but theres a similar feel to the ordinary console with only improvements in sound and visual.
In conclusion, Wii rocks.

As a Wii owner, I personally think you're better off with the 360. Of course, it really all just comes down to your taste in games.
If you like Megaman and stuff like that, get a DS. There's these Star Force (personally, I prefer BN more cause I'm not diggin' the new 1st person 3D POV) and ZX series.
But if you have to choose between a 360 or a Wii, get a 360. If you can, get the standard one with the 20GB HD. Seriously, I'm kinda pissed off about Nintendo on many issues. Like for example, the Wii is backwards compatible with the Gamecube, but there are hardly any games you can still find in stores (unless you go online), and there is close to zero wavebirds (would be great for Brawl) and memory cards for it. And the fact that if you really want to get the most out of the Wiis multiplayer options, you have to buy a total of 3 different items just to add an additional player - a Wiimote, Nunchuck and a Classic Controller (roughly an additional $100 after taxes). So yeah, the Wii is not by any measure an "inexpensive" alternative, especially when considering its hardware is roughly that of an original Xbox.

Take the Wii if you're into Nintendo mascots. 360 if you're more hardcore gaming.

Most of the games I want for the 360 are/will be released on PC, which I have already, and thus, no need for a 360, whereas the Wii has several games I want, and a more intuitive interface, along with a different way to play games, has me interested more than traditional controller-holding of the 360.
If I want to hold a controller on my lap all day, my SNES slates my thirst well. (The DS should get an honourable mention as well)
As I stand on the matter, at least. Feel free to disagree.
