tengen toppa gurren lagann, is a great anime and it's also done by the creator of FLCL, or so I recalled. You can google it up for information.
Here's a general overall:
In their closed-off underground village, Kamina and Simon chafe at the limits imposed by the village elder. Yet all this will change, when Simon stumbles across a fantastic device - just as the village's peace is broken by a violent intrusion.
Genres: Adventure, Comedy, Mecha, Science Fiction
The best part is that there is only 27 episode, a very short series, no?
I'd talk more, but I wanna see if there's others who know of this anime of finishes watching it?
I have and I totally love it~!

After watching this series, I understood why Lucky Star made that statement about drills and robots being a man's dream.
I rate Gurren Lagann as: MANLY
Especially the guy who looks like a shark. I love how everything in Gurren Lagann is centered around either a spiral or a drill. It was like watching FuriKuri, with drills.
The only other giant robot-related show that recently piqued my interest was Zoids Genesis. Despite my hatred of the Zoid series in general, I actually like Zoids Genesis. War-themed animes with an emphasis on politics/nation-building are a sure-fire way to catch my attention.

I believe most anime have one season being about 26 episodes long, some have half seasons, 13 episodes (i.e. Hellsing). It's not that short for anime. But then there's stuff like Inuyasha, Naruto, and Pokemon which may never end.

I thought Inu Yasha finally finished? Detective Conan, as far as I know, is still being aired/produced. Long story short, there aren't enough MANLY mecha animes. Especially not of the caliber of Gurren Lagann.

Gurren Lagann is like gundam but better... in a sense, you know mecha... (not to hate. I love gundam.)
and the series could have been consider short, since there was a 7 year time skip; meaning they could have split that into 2 season, making the show look short. <- This is a bad explanation, but ah-well.
1-16 <- When Simon and the others are kids
17-26 <- the 7 year time skip (epi 27 was 20 years.. but that's only because it was the final/ending)
If any one of you were to watch you, OH MAN you will be hook.
Here I hope Wikipedia's image link works.

I read the Inu Yasha manga up to volume... 9... I think. By that point, I figured that Rumiko Takahashi would not try to end the project any time soon so I moved onto other comics that looked interesting. This is also the reason why I did not bother to watch the Inu Yasha anime.

I can't come up with the right word for how satisfied I was with watching Gurren Lagann. I mean, sure, it was a bit of a letdown that someone important had to DIE at the end but it definitely brings the audience back to the reality that you can't always have a happy ending for everyone.
The only issue I have with the show is how they pick and choose which laws of physics to obey. I mean, they used quantum mechanics for the defense system [Schrodinger's Cat] and they sort of maintained the youth/age of the Gurren Lagann team as being consistent with the space-time of the residents of Earth, which really doesn't work that way. There are other physics-related laws that the anime either bent or disregarded completely, such as using a galaxy like a concrete block to hide behind, which is both amusing and weird.

May you rest in peace Nia.
I love the show for doing that. It's true that they over looked at some elements like flying in space and being able to breathe and all but look at FMA. They were defining god too.

Full Metal Alchemist reminded me a lot more about Marlowe's Doctor Faustus. I mean, both lead characters, Ed and Faust, attained unbelievable powers at an incredible cost and were soon overwhelmed by the weight of their mistakes.
