Here's a bit of jedi touted dogma for you...to prove just how contradictory and wrong they are:
Obi-Wan (Episode III): Only a Sith, deals in absolutes
That in itself is an absolute, ask yourself this question and give an answer either true or false...
"Do you deal in absolutes?"
Both answers mean that you do...if you say true...then it's true......if you say false...then that in itself is an absolute and you've created a paradox.
Another example:
Anakin: "From my point of view, the Jedi are evil"
Obi Wan: "Then you are lost"
But then in Episode VI,
Obi-Wan: "What I told you was true, from a certain point of view".
Hang on, so your point of view is invalid if it doesn't agree with a jedi's, but if a jedi's point of view doesn't agree with yours...you just have to deal with it. WHAT THE HELL. Dogmatic if ever I heard it.
The Dark Side don't usually lie, they just leave out all of the facts. They only spread the truth that gives them a position they can manipulate others from. Allow me...
Palpatine: "You could bring about a Vote of No Confidence in Valorum"
Padme' : "He's been our strongest supporter"
Palpatine: "Our only other option is to put the matter to the courts"
He's given her 2 options, one which she will never choose, and one which puts him in a position of authority.
Another example...
Palpatine: "To cheat death, is a power only one has acheived, but if we work together, I know we can discover its secret"
Palpy never promised to save Padme, he just said they would work together since they were the most powerful in the force to achieve this end.
Palpatine: "He will take care of you"
And that Vader did of the seperatists
There are many others...but I'm tired, and everyone knows the dark side rules.

Jedi act both as a religion and a law enforcement agency.
The Sith do the same.
You got to be a bounty hunter or an Ewok to live free
with your mind intact.

Interesting plot point, or clever social critism? Face it, in all religion and mythology, the good guys outright lie more than the evil ones, however those evil entities always twist the truth to their own ends.

mostly because the bad guys want to pursue their own motives, so in essence villains tell you the truth to the extent that they want you to know so that it benefits themselves to the fullest extent.
