what is the purpose of having a gil system for downloads? Are downloads privately hosted or are they hosted on ipboard?

We ain't implemented no gil system my friend. Not since a long time ago...but as for the hosting...an admin should be able to answer the question for you.

The gil system merely results in furthur contributions for the site...which in turn, doesn't suck the bandwidth with everyone who is anyone accessing the downloads and in effect "leeching" the bandwidth.

But this system is not in effect...it currently is 5 posts...any downloads.

However, don't just post 5 times and leave...stay around and enjoy the forums.

The gil is listed for the Unreal RPG system, not for downloads.
It is fairly easy to get banned here, but it is also easy not to get banned.
An easy way to get banned is to make a one word post while having less than 10 total posts.
A good way to stay a member to to think about what you're about to post.

I think it's incredibly lenient, what Romsource is doing. Five posts for all downloads is quite generous (I'm not complaining though).

There are some good sites as well, though none offer as much as Romsource based on what I've come to see... which is why I hope to stay longer than five posts happy.gif.

Yeah, but what if someone did in fact make the five posts, then downloaded a few roms.
THEN they started to make a sixth post mentioning how awesome this site... but dropped dead halfway through.

Going by the number of complaints about cutting off access to the ROM download page for leeching. I doubt that they're dying off.
