Question about the RPG mod for forums

I've installed the RPG mod on my own forums, and I'm finding spells a hassle to balance. If they have high Power ratings, they one-shot other mages (with low defences). If not, they fail miserably to do anything. Mages are already disadvantaged compared to other classes when it comes to bot matchups (no spellcasting).

Is there a way to modify the RPG mod to make it so spell damage ignores the target's defence?
