I was pretty disappointed in this game. Although the battle system was interesting at first and I thought it was neat that it kept my attention more, it quickly got hectic and much of a chore to fight. I heard that you are supposed to use gambits and strategize so that it is not so hectic, but I just like the old turn based system like in FFX. I think FFX had one of the best fighting systems of all because you can plan out what you want to do and it will even tell the turn order depending on what action you take. This may be just me though, anyone agree?

The only thing really disappointing in my opinion is the fact that magic is almost useless. Working with Gambits almost always ends in having no more MP besides the AI doesn't react the way I'd like. I want to control spells, but that takes time ... killing any joy in an ATB. Apart from that I really like that Battle Style, but you're right: FF-X had had the best Combat System of all round-based FF's.

It is true that magick isn't that useful at all, but I think the battle system far exceeds that of any other FF game. The only other gripe I have is that the license board is too small and there's not enough techs (or good ones at that) to make me want to use them. I was hoping for a few standard FF abilities like Jump, Mug, and a Counter that is worth having.

I currently playing it with my girlfriend (lucky me
) and I'm rather disapointed by the story. Being a huge Final Fantasy fan I get didn't really get that special feeling what I get with most final fantasy's. The gameplay was ok but the licience board sucked. We maxxed out the would grid fairly easaly. I also didn't feel much for buying all the magic weapons etc after a part of the story line. I don't like being stuck with my weak self because the better weapons only become avalable after a part of the story.
All in all. I still enjoy the game only because its has an nice gameplay.

I had problems with the battle system first becuase I'm a button smasher, and I kept pushing the X button to make things happen while I was waiting, so that got annoying fast because it kept bringing up the menu. Once I got over that, I thought it was awesome. I liked the grid idea, because it was organized and made it easy to specialize your characters in exactly what you wanted them to be good at. I personally never used Technicks. I don't get why they're even there. Also, I used magick plenty, because with Libra you can see what enemy's weakness is, and I had some of the girls own them with the magick they're weak too. Usually when I used magick though, I just did it manually. The gambits were kinda crazy at first, but I think they're really cool once you get the hang of them and have your characters all set up in their own specific ways. All in all, the battle system is highly effecient, and the battles go a helluva lot faster when you're not sitting there waiting for the next dude's turn to come. It just goes and you watch it happen, who can complain with that?

I thought it was really fun, the new battle system annoyed me at times, because I would keep wanting them to attack. But that little yellow timer bar had to slowly make its way up. God that killed me. I liked the story, personally. I did enjoy FFX more, but this was by no means a bad game.

the game is really good. The story is good, but at times kinda long and drawn out, but good overall. I liked the battle system a lot. I hate walking around in some of the other FF games and then all of a sudden a enemy just spawns and you have to fight. I like seeing the enemies, and having the choice to avoid them if you want.
