I'm currently taking part in a business-insight thing with school (took one subjects exam early so I have a year to kill) and today there was this crazy guy who does training for Mac products and was just blabbering on about how Macs are wonderful, sure being based on Unix allows them to claim that they DON'T have ANY virii but they do however have some security leaks and trojans/maelware, they also don't offer enough customization, what you buy is what you have to keep, and you can't build your own - kinda like consoles... Sure you can add RAM or a GPU (both of which are extortionately priced) but it ain't the same as building your own system.
Soo... There's a few of my arguments, obviously in favour of the Windows based PC - I don't have anything against Linux either, I just prefer Windows as an OS, despite it's insecurities.
Hey, DOS is cool too.

wtf is linux???
its the modern version of your angst towards normality
Naru tends to agree with you.
Naru was forced to use those "Crapple" computers
in design school.
Naru wants to tinker with the PC!
It's like how our grandparents screwed around with cars.

Windows definately. I HATE Macs. I've owned a Mac laptop for 2 and a half years and it has had mother boards and hard drives repleced 12 times. And im not the only one who has trouble with macs. Our school is a mac school and things hardly work. I find them very unreliable

I'm going to go with windows just for compatibility issues. If I wanted to spend a mint just to run windows faster, I'd buy a mac. If I wanted to use something more difficult that doesn't run jack, I'd run a *nix system. As for DOS, I love it, I still have it, not installed, but I still have it.

right now, i use a windows box...but only for the compatability of the apps...when i get a new one, i might just switch to Linux...vand DOS rocks too...i used to be able to do everything with DOS...I wonder if I still can?
meh...Too lazy to put anything meaningful here

The answer is no. DOS doesn't allow for multitasking, even in the early windows versions that ran in dos. Linux is a great OS, but just like every OS, the more popular it becomes, the more security holes will be found (and therefore virii). I love how Mac is pushing the "more secure" angle, heaven forbid it be because it's not a popular choice for homeowners due to its extravagant price. (not to mention lack of upgradability, hence why the OS runs so perfect on it)

Its just a bit simple.
PCs are better if you wish to either play a game, make 3D art of any kind or to do what you like with.
Macs are the machine of ART. Any design company will use a MAC. Most recording studios will use macs. They handle artistic stuff better then PC's but they just cant handle 3D graphics as well.
Overal, it depends what you use it for!

you are, but once people get to know you, a smile
